ENDOWMENT GIFTS
Opening doors for future students
Endowments are critically important for universities because they offer financial stability and ensure long-term funding to support and maintain institutional priorities and programs.
An endowment is a gift that is invested and not spent directly. Typically, only a portion of the interest accrued on the endowment is used to support a program or programs. As such, endowment funds provide reliable income into perpetuity.
The University of Utah’s endowment assets are pooled together to leverage investment potential. The Investment Management Office diversifies endowment holdings into a portfolio of equity, fixed income, and alternative assets to ensure financial stability in the short run, with measured growth potential in the long run.
